As a Data Scientist at Axfood AB, you’ll join our AI team — a key part of the central Strategy & Business Development department. Our mission is to make Axfood a leader in AI innovation and transformation across the grocery retail industry and turn data into real business impact. 

We build and run end-to-end machine learning and advanced analytics solutions that help Axfood become even more data-driven. The team develops models for multiple parts of the Group — including e-commerce, loyalty (e.g., Willys Plus, Klubb Hemköp), digital marketing, and broader AI initiatives including GenAI applications — and we collaborate closely with IT, business development, e-commerce specialists, analysts and many more. 

Being a Data Scientist at Axfood, you will be working with a modern, cloud-based platform to build models. You will develop models using Python and SQL for programming and mainly using AWS SageMaker and Airflow for development and orchestration of pipelines. 

What you’ll do

•    Develop, productionize, and iterate on ML and analytics models that create measurable value across Axfood. 
•    Work end-to-end: problem framing & design → feature engineering & modeling → pipelines/MLOps → monitoring & continuous improvement. 
•    Apply methods such as predictive modeling, recommender systems, clustering, and generative-AI solutions. 
•    Take ownership of our deliveries and partner with stakeholders — with room for creativity, rapid experimentation, and direct impact on outcomes. 

Our tech environment 
•    Languages & tools: Python, SQL 
•    Platform & orchestration: AWS (incl. SageMaker, Bedrock), Airflow 
•    Ways of working: Git and CI/CD 
•    Data: Very large, diverse datasets from across the Group 

We believe you have

•    At least a couple of years’ experience as a Data Scientist or ML Engineer. 
•    A relevant degree (e.g., mathematics, computer science, physics, statistics, data science, or a comparable engineering degree). 
•    Hands-on experience with ML algorithms — and you write scalable, production-ready code. 
•    Understanding of MLOps and experience deploying/monitoring models in real environments. 
•    Strong collaboration and communication skills. You’re proficient in English and Swedish (our company language is Swedish). 

Preferred: 
•    Experience with generative AI applications. 
•    Airflow (or similar) and working with very large datasets. 
•    Cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP.
